Prevent Your Mask From Fogging

Prevent Your Mask From Fogging

A quality paintball mask is the most important piece of equipment you can own as a paintball player and should be the first bit of kit you invest in.

The mask is designed to keep the you safe during games, they don’t just protect your eyes and face but forehead and ears too. Let’s face it some of them look pretty cool so its win win, protection and looking good. There’s nothing more frustrating than a fogged up mask that can limit visibility, plus it’s dangerous too. Players may be tempted to remove their mask so they are able to see, exposing them to the danger of being hit. Check out our top tips for reducing fogging below:

    1.  Go for a mask with a thermal lens. A thermal lens is dual paned, like double glazing, and is the leats likely type to steam up. If you already have a mask with a single lens, most brands have a thermal lens upgrade available.
    2. Make sure the mask you've got fits your face well. Not every mask fits every person as we all have slightly different face shapes, so you should choose your mask based on how it fits and not how cool it looks! Adjusting the strap tightness and position on your head
    3. Ensure ventilation holes on the google frames are not covered by scarves, hats, head wraps etc. The hot air inside the mask needs to escape!
    4. Wear a headband or headwrap! These will soak up sweat from your forehead, helping to keep the mask foam dry. This alone can make a massive difference

    5. Make sure your lens is nice and clean. Consider an anti-fog spray treatment and use a microfibre to clean the lens itself. Whatever you do, do not submerge the lens in water.

    6. If you're still struggling, consider a fan for your mask. They can help with circulation of air inside the mask. These aren't available for all models though.Ensure the strap of your mask is up at an angle as opposed to going straight across the back of your head, this will assist with the fit.
